The Shadow of the Cross
Ralph Digman and his wife, Penny, a nurse, first came to Belize as part of a medical mission team in 1995 for one week. Their mission work complete, they returned home to Indiana. For a while, life went on as usual. They had no idea what God had in store for them. He placed a burden in their hearts which continued to grow until it could no longer be ignored. They both knew that God demanded action on their part and they were obedient to His Will.
On Their Way
They sold their home, and with two small boys, packed up an ancient school bus with a few belongings and a cross tied to the top. After several hundred miles in their rickety old bus, in 100 degree heat with no air conditioning, and two precious boys, Penny decided that this could not be what God wanted. Determined to have Ralph turn around and go back to Indiana, she made her way to the front of the bus.
Tears
But the words she spoke with tears in her eyes were not hers, but her Father's, "Ralph, we must stay in the shadow of the Cross." for when she looked out the front windshield of the bus, there was a perfect shadow created in the middle of the road of the Cross atop the bus.
